Web site preface
The following web pages contain the results of my time and travels, as well as other's, to see these Cajuns & Creoles, not only in their home towns, but also across the United States.  My focus will primarily be on the music & dance, but since everything from this area is connected, little will be left out.
I will refer to original sources as much as possible.  I consider myself knowledgeable, but not an expert.  So, those things or areas in which I am not knowledgeable, I defer to other people or resources who do know, often simply for support and clarity.  If there are any Cajuns or Creoles (or anyone else for that matter) who disagree, have corrections or additions with anything here, I'd be glad to hear from you.
I offer sights, sounds, information, as well as services & products.  In your time visiting here, may this be genuinely helpful, accurate, informative, and by all means fun.
I hope to have ample formats for you tell me what you think, feel and/or want, especially from those of whom I speak.  And if our paths should cross, may we pass a good time, and pass on the good things we know & have found, and leave the rest. David, hei toi...

Welcome to Bayou Dancer.com

It is my pleasure to share with you something that has come to mean a great deal to me.  The culture, music & dance of the people from Southwest Louisiana & Southeast Texas.
The lives of these Cajuns & Creoles have come to touch millions of people from around the world.  This is true for a couple of reasons - the basic curiosity of folks to be interested in someone or something unique or special, and the southern hospitality of these really nice people.   Folks from around the world have come to taste their food, listen to their music, and dance their dance these Cajuns & Creoles have developed.  The language is French, Cajun or Creole, the weather is hot, along with the food.  The Cajuns & Creoles have 2 distinct histories and cultures, that have mixed & mingled through time in a way that have influenced each other deeply.  Some things in these cultures are very differant, many things are very much the same!  One serious source of connection & community between these and all cultures has been through music!  Take what you like, and what fits, and leave the rest.  Enjoy!  Hei Toi...

Peace,
David Jordahl, a bayou dancer...
